The specification is the system.

bsmiq is a business definition engine. You describe the domain once — in a structured model — and the runtime compiles, validates, and executes it.

Declare the business

Modules group the parts of the company. Entities hold records. Custom value types tighten primitives. Relationships link independent records; sub-entities compose children that cannot exist alone. Commands are the only write path. Business rules decide what is allowed before and after actions run.

Compile before it runs

The engine builds registries, rejects broken references, checks inheritance and rule definitions, and surfaces stable diagnostic codes. A model that does not compile does not become “half live.”

Execute with authority

Writes go through authorized commands and transactional actions — create, update, delete, relationships, workflow transitions. After commit: events, alerts, notifications. Access policies and roles decide who may touch which records and fields.

Operate the model

Activate modules. Evolve entity versions. Manage records through the commands the model itself declares. The interface is for shaping and running the specification — not for reinventing each domain as a one-off app.

In the model today

  • Types & entities Primitives, custom value types, versions, migrations, sub-entities, uniqueness, ownership.
  • Behaviour Commands, actions, business rules, workflows, event types.
  • Access & delivery Roles, permissions, access policies, data projections, notifications, alerts, integrations (including login providers).

Who it is for

Founders and platform teams who are tired of every new product line becoming another bespoke CRUD stack — and teams who want AI to help author the model without letting the model dissolve into unreviewable prompt soup.
